UPDATED: An elderly man in his 80s is said to have been mugged of his pension money in Ventnor this morning (Friday).
Several Police units responded to the scene outside Tesco Express in the High Street at around 10:30 after it is understood a 86-year-old man was pushed over and robbed as he got cash out of the cash point.
Officers remain on scene and are searching the area. It is currently unknown if the suspect – or suspects – has been located and detained.
The incident has been branded as disgusting by many and has sent shock waves through the local community.
UPDATE TUESDAY: A 34-year-old man from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of robbery by Police investigating Friday’s mugging.
