The Met Office have issued a double yellow weather warning for scattered, heavy downpours today (Saturday) and tomorrow, which they say will turn thundery in places.
Although the Isle of Wight is included within the warning zone, forecasters say many places will miss the worst of the weather with some places even staying dry. The warning comes as thousands of revellers enjoy the final 2 days of the Isle of Wight Festival.
A warning is in place from 11:00 this morning until 20:00 tonight and then again from 11:00 tomorrow until 21:00.
The warning says that where any sunshine breaks through, rising temperatures will help trigger scattered heavy downpours, with local thunder, which could be slow-moving, given light winds. 15-20mm of rain could fall locally within an hour and 30-40mm possible within just a few hours. Such amounts could cause localised surface water flooding, especially if they affect urban areas.
