Police are appealing to members of the public for help in locating 40-year-old Graham Smith, but the authorities say he should not be approached.
Graham Smith, from Ventnor, is wanted in connection with the aggravated burglary on East Hill Road in Ryde on Friday, for which 2 people have already been charged and remanded in custody.
Armed Police have been carrying out searches for Smith over the past few days, but he is yet to be found.
Hampshire Constabulary say they believe he is still on the Isle of Wight, however he also has links to other areas of Hampshire, and in particular to Portsmouth.
Smith is described as having a distinctive scar on his right cheek.
If you have seen him, or know where he is, do not approach him but contact Police on 101, quoting 44190463904. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Anyone found to be harbouring Smith to deliberately obstruct attempts to locate him may be committing an offence and be liable for arrest and prosecution themselves.
UPDATE NEW YEAR’S DAY – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that Graham Smith was successfully arrested last night (Tuesday) and has subsequently been charged with aggravated burglary.
He has been remanded in custody after appearing before Magistrates this morning.
The case has been adjourned to the Crown Court on 3rd February.

Now bang the scum up for a long time
Well done
He’s caught so I a bit late with this comment, but why wasn’t his picture in this article? Not impressed with reporters of both here and IWCP.
Now that the suspect has been apprehended, we are required by Hampshire Constabulary to remove the photograph supplied.
if he is charged, then I trust his picture will be back up again, just like simpson, whose picture is still viewable after being charged for bottling that girl.
Why aren’t there any pictures of louise spence and brown on this site – they have been charged – where are their mugshots.
(not having a go at Island Echo)
it seems the police cannot get pictures of men out fast enough who have assaulted a female, yet cannot get a picture of a female out who has assaulted a male, with the same sense of urgency.
They need to address this lack of equality when chasing down suspects.
