To celebrate the start of Tour de France in the UK this year and to encourage cycling uptake for the summer, local cycling experts and enthusiasts Primera Sports are promoting their very own Tour de Primera.
The Tour de Primera highlights the wonderful South coast area and displays some excellent cycling opportunities with routes and trails available in Dorset, The New Forest and right here on the Isle of Wight
Primera Sports are extremely active within the cycling community, sponsoring the Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride on Sunday 6th July, organising one of the biggest Cycling & Tri Expos in the South every October and hosting regular local rides for anyone interested to go out and about on their bike.
Taking inspiration from the Tour de France which this year starts in Yorkshire, Primera Sports have prepared local routes of varying distances and difficulties, each tailored to see the local area and attractions and making for a fantastic day out – the purpose is to boost cycling uptake in the summer and encourage people to discover the beautiful South Coast on a bike.
Here on the Island, a West Wight route has been chosen between Yarmouth, Freshwater, Shorwell and Porchfield. Visitors will be encouraged to cycle the routes at their leisure and enjoy the Primera challenge, and contribute to expanding and improving the routes by sharing, submitting suggestions, pictures and videos, therefore enhancing the sense of cycling community that Primera aims to instil.
