Police, fire and ambulance crews are all on the scene of a road traffic collision at Ashey this evening (Wednesday), which has closed one of the main roads into Ryde.
It was at around 19:00 that emergency services were alerted to a collision on Ashey Road, leading up onto The Downs.
The road has been closed in both directions with traffic being diverted locally via Brading Down Road and through Brading.
UPDATE @ 21:05 – Ashey Road has now reopened in both directions.
A Seat Ibiza remains in a field off the carriageway, with significant front end damage.
Doesn’t surprise me at all the way vehicles speed along this
road, just like all other island roads.
TIME TO INVEST IN SPEED CAMERAS
Maybe one day “ALL” the island “SO CALLED” road safety persons
will take a trip to the Big Smoke and see how safe roads
can be when there are cameras everywhere and 20mph is
plenty.

On the mainland they have technology that finds owners of
vehicles from their vehicle registration number.
Maybe that technology is not on the island as of yet, maybe it
cannot afford the extortionate ferry fares to come to the island.
It is 1 big joke.
or maybe the driver wasn’t at fault no need to mention a driver whose done nothing wrong.

I always sh”t myself when approaching roundabouts on
the island because no B’stard gives way to the right.

Too many vehicles speeding on the island is the problem.
There are NO rules on Island Roads.
