Cowes Sports Ladies FC – otherwise known as the Roes – have announced their disbandment and withdrawal from Hampshire County Division 2 this afternoon (Wednesday). The Roes have had a long break from playing, due to cancellation of fixtures, postponements and cancellations and have sometimes been unable to raise a team. They currently lie bottom of Division 2, having lost all 7 of their games in the season to date, conceding 39 goals. The Roes last played on 26th November last year when they lost 0-10 to Andover New Street. The departure of Cowes Ladies leaves 2 Isle of Wight senior ladies’ teams: Shanklin – who currently lie 4th in Hampshire Division 1; and Wight Eagles – who are 4th in Division 3. The club has said:
“It’s with a heavy heart that we have to announce this, but Cowes Sports Ladies FC are having to pull out the league and fold as a club. We can’t thank the ladies enough for their continued efforts through this tough period and to all the staff and volunteers for all your help. “And finally, a massive thank you to all the ladies who have played for Cowes through the years; we wish everyone the best.”
