An incident at Seaclose Park in Newport has prompted a response from Thames Valley Air Ambulance, Police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service this lunchtime (Monday).
Emergency services are currently in attendance near the water’s edge on the banks of the River Medina.
Several Police cars are on scene alongside local rapid response paramedics and an ambulance crew. In the last few minutes flying doctors based in Oxford have joined colleagues on the ground.
A cordon has been established around an area of woodland.
UPDATE @ 13:48 – Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that officers have been called to a concern for welfare report which was received just before 13:00.
Air Ambulance specialist medics have been tending to a casualty alongside the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, although it is not believed that the person will be flown to hospital.
A police cordon has been erected surrounding the entrance to a woodland walk to allow medics to treat the person involved with a level of privacy.
UPDATE @ 14:35 – Emergency crews have now stood down from the scene and the cordon has been lifted from the footpath.
After a long period sat stationary at the scene, the ambulance is now conveying the casualty to St Mary’s Hospital.
The Thames Valley Air Ambulance has returned to its base in Oxfordshire.
It remains unknown as to the exact circumstances that prompted such a large response, with an ambulance, 4 police vehicles and an Air Ambulance all attending the incident.
Officers have recovered a bicycle from the scene, although its significance is unclear.
