A search is underway for a father and son who have gone missing on their fishing boat in the East Wight this morning (Sunday), with the RNLI lifeboat from Bembridge, as well as Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams drafted in to help locate them.
The alarm was raised at around 10:20 after it was reported the duo had gone missing on their fishing boat having been out since 22:00 on Saturday evening.
Coastguard Rescue Officers from Bembridge and Ventnor have also been tasked and are assisting in the search efforts between Ryde Marina and Sandown Bay.
Bembridge RNLI’s inshore lifeboat and the All Weather Lifeboat have both been launched to search the areas accessible by boat only.
UPDATE @ 11:33 – The RNLI lifeboat has been stood down after a boat matching the description of the 1 missing was seen heading into Ryde.
The father and son pair are believe to be safe and well.
Both of the RNLI Lifeboats from Bembridge have headed back to the station.

Do people who comment on these articles not bloody read them properly it says quite clearly and in plain English that the search effort has been stood down as a boat matching the discription of the one reported missing headed into Ryde and father and son both safe and well they probly just had a good night’s fishing and stayed out a bit longer than planned .
It does say that now yes! But for most of the day it didn’t, just said the lifeboat had been stood down! So they have obviously wrote it on there now, because it wasn’t on there!
So get your facts right dopey! We would have asked otherwise would we!

Freezing weather and the lifeboats are out saving lives, regardless of the outcome they do amazing work and they are all volunteers. Thank you for being there for us all.
