As part of the extensive investment and improvement work to improve health care services for the Island’s community for the longer term, the entrance to the Children’s Emergency Department is being upgraded to improve access for ambulances.
From Monday 4th September, in order to complete this work, the movement of cars will need to be restricted around the hospital site so that the new ambulance entrance can be built.
There will be no vehicle through route across the St Mary’s Site so people wanting to park in the North car park at the front of the hospital should use the main entrance on Parkhurst Road and everyone else will need to use the entrances on Dodnor Lane entrance at the back of the hospital.
This work is scheduled to take 5 weeks and the diversion will remain in place for this period. The team at Isle of Wight NHS Trust has apologised for any inconvenience but these temporary restrictions are necessary to ensure the safety of staff, patients and contractors.
Acknowledging that works can be disruptive for patients and visitors they have pledged to ensure this is kept to a minimum.

As clear as mud as usual. The North Car Park is not the one in the front of the Hospital, that would be best described as the West Car Park, and in the picture that also appears to be accessible. The North Car Park surely is that at the left of the main entrance, associated with the North Hospital.
Get those traffic lights sorted that are in the hospital grounds now absolutely hopeless as sitting there waiting for lights to change when there is nothing on the opposite end of the lights , get them with sensor on them save a lot of angry staff
Why is the NHS wasting money on trying to improve this one hospital, we need another hospital, not a patch up job. Get rid of some overpaid and quite franky underqualified so called managers, that would save a lot of cash, this is just a sticking plaster over a gaping wound.
