CENTURIES FOR KRIEL AND HERRIDGE IN WEEKEND WINS

ventnorcricketsteephilPierre Kriel hit eight fours and nine sixes in a fine innings of 106 as Ventnor successfully chased a target of 284 in Saturday’s friendly with Sarisbury Athletic at Steephill.

The South African shared an opening stand of 178 with Ben Herridge who made an excellent 72 and when they departed, Martin Blackman with a 34 ball half century and youngsters George Willis (19) and Harry Ridely (10 not out) saw their side home.

Earlier, Kieran Gayle had thumped 107 from only 60 deliveries in the visitors’ score of 283-5.

On Sunday, Berkshire tourists Pangbourne could only manage 149, a total polished off by Ben Herridge who struck ten fours and two sixes in a splendid unbeaten knock of 103.

Steephill stages matches against Dumbleton from Gloucestershire and Old Tauntonians and Romsey on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
