A medical emergency onboard Wightlink’s St Faith is causing delays of an unknown length on the Portsmouth-Fishbourne car ferry service this afternoon (Friday).
The cross-Solent operator has confirmed that an ongoing medical emergency is affecting its vehicle ferry operation between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.
Emergency services have been called to attend St Faith, with Wightlink currently awaiting their arrival.
As a result, passengers travelling between Portsmouth and Fishbourne are being warned to expect delays, although the length of the disruption is not yet known.
Wightlink is advising all customers to continue to check in as normal for their booked sailing time.
Those affected by the disruption will be accommodated on the next available sailing.
A spokesperson for Wightlink has said:
“Sorry, due to an ongoing medical emergency on board the St Faith on our Portsmouth to Fishbourne car ferry service, customers may experience unknown delays today, Friday 18 September.

It is not currently known what the nature of the medical emergency is or how long the incident is expected to impact the service.
St Faith was involved in a similar incident back in June when a medical emergency onboard the vessel contributed to delays of around 90 minutes on the Portsmouth-Fishbourne route.
