The sights and sounds of the highland pipes and drums will be on display as bands march into the arena for the opening parade and salute to the chieftain for the Island Highland Games on 23rd July.
There will be bands on the Celtic Band Stage for a foot tapping display of Scottish themed folk and rock music throughout the day including the famous Wight Hot Pipes who have performed at Glastonbury and in Manhattan as part of the annual New York Tartan Festival – don’t be surprised to see those bagpipes on fire!
You can sing along with The Crew and sit back and have fun with the awesome JC and The Preachers or enjoy the dancing from White Rose Scottish Dancers and Bailey Academy of Irish Dance.
By popular demand the talented and entertaining Dolphin Marching band from Poole will also be returning to add spectacle to the day.
Weather permitting, there may also be a mesmerising falconry display just to add to the fun of the day and, if you dare, then why not go in for the fun team contest of tossing the caber and hurling the haggis?
Enjoy the friendly family atmosphere and the many food and beer stalls as well as classic cars. Pop along to the whisky tasting area for fine whisky sipping to make your day complete.
All this is set within the famous Isle of Wight Steam Railway at Havenstreet where the old traditional carriages and steam locomotives will be running as usual throughout the day.
Gates open at 10:00 and is in support of local charity Aspire, and supported by the Isle of Wight Steam Railway Steam Trains.
Aspire is the charity of the year for Red Funnel Ferries who have helped make this show such a success over the years. Fran Collins, CEO of Red Funnel, will be welcomed to the event.
Sponsorship has also come from Adgestone Vineyard (Arson fire) and Cosmedica Clinics with money raised going to Aspire, based in Ryde, who support the vulnerable of our community with food bank, café, soft play, workshops and support groups working across the Island.
