Thanks to all our under paid emergency services. No doubt our politicians are enjoying an easy day whilst these people risk themselves to protect and treat us.
Get a grip, hardly the towering inferno. I would have gone round for a tenner, cash in hand and squirted my hose over a burnt pie or whatever.
Ha, probably
But not brave enough for a towering inferno
Clearly this guys do a find job, and at times put themselves in danger. All I am saying is it is a costly service with 99 out of 100 shouts seem to be over manned for often trivial events, or non events.
Like to see a ‘breakdown’ of full costs weekly or monthly of fire service to see if my assumptions are correct.
In the good, or bad old days, depends how one looks at it, the isle of wight council staff were oversupplied, and if you left school with no quals, you knew you could always get a job on the council, who would send several men where one or two would have sufficed.
That IS the issue with Government funded organisations, for from those at the bottom to those at the top, the desire to save, cut costs, limit waste, and not over do things to make the most cash, is not there, as it is in private companies.
It was the experience, knowledge and sophisticated equipment wielded by these professionals that meant this incident was closed down at an early stage without loss or harm to life.
Would that be the bucket of water, or the hi tech sand if it were an electrical fire?
