Freshwater Bay Ladies Golf Club have been crowned champions of the Isle of Wight Ladies Golf Association’s 2026 Foursomes League following a closely fought 5-week competition.
Six Island clubs took part in this year’s inter-club matchplay competition, with Freshwater Bay building an unassailable lead before the final round of fixtures to secure the league title.
Whilst the championship had already been decided, the battle for the runner-up spot went down to the wire, with 4 teams still in contention on the final day. The outcome was only settled in the competition’s final match, where Cowes secured enough points to claim the runner-up shield.
Freshwater Bay finished top of the standings with 14 points, just 1 point ahead of Cowes on 13.
Isle of Wight Ladies Golf Association captain Stephanie Hart presented the Foursomes League Shield to the victorious Freshwater Bay team and the runner-up shield to Cowes.
