An Isle of Wight personal trainer is set to take on a gruelling 70-mile challenge around the Island later this month in a bid to raise £800 for Help for Heroes.
Luke Scanlon will attempt to walk around the entire coastline of the Isle of Wight in under 24 hours whilst carrying the Union Jack flag. Beginning on the morning of 15th August, he will complete the route non-stop with only brief pauses for food, hydration and essential recovery.
The endurance challenge will see Luke tackle around 70 miles of coastal paths, hills and changing terrain without sleep, testing both his physical and mental resilience.
Luke, who works as a personal trainer on the Isle of Wight, hopes the fundraiser will not only support veterans and members of the Armed Forces community but also inspire others to push beyond their own perceived limits.
His GoFundMe, which has raised a total of £615 out of his £800 goal, will see 100% of proceeds go towards Help for Heroes. A charity which provides support to veterans and their families, helping them recover from injuries, improve their wellbeing and rebuild their lives after military service.
Luke has said:
“I’ll be taking on one of the biggest physical and mental challenges of my life – walking around the entire Isle of Wight in under 24 hours, completely non-stop, to raise money for Help for Heroes.
“As a personal trainer, I spend my time helping others push beyond their limits and achieve goals they once thought were impossible.
“This challenge is my opportunity to put that same mindset into action while supporting an incredible cause that helps veterans and service personnel who have sacrificed so much for our country.
“There will be moments when my body wants to stop, but knowing that every step is helping raise funds for Help for Heroes will keep me moving forward.”
Anyone wishing to support Luke’s challenge can do so via his GoFundMe page, where donations of any size will go towards Help for Heroes’ work supporting veterans across the UK.
