Lallows Boatyard has warned that fuel supply issues have escalated during Cowes Week, with the business once again running out of unleaded fuel and concerns growing over the impact on visiting vessels.
The Cowes boatyard says it has been without unleaded since 11:00 yesterday (Tuesday). It has also revealed that Cowes Harbour Fuels has now run out of unleaded because of the same supply problems, meaning there is currently no outlet able to supply the fuel to harbour users.
Island Echo reported last week that Lallows warned repeated delivery shortfalls from supplier Certas Energy threatened to disrupt Cowes Week, despite increasing its fuel orders ahead of the event.
Lallows says it is expecting a delivery tomorrow morning (Thursday), although both the timing and quantity remain unconfirmed. It says it will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
Responding to Island Echo’s previous reporting, a Certas Energy spokesperson said:
“We want to reassure customers that there is currently no impact to fuel supplies to the Isle of Wight.
“Operational issues around vehicle capacity meant that on this occasion we were unable to deliver fuel requested by an individual customer.”
