Artists are being sought by Ventnor Town Council to assist in brightening up the town’s esplanade in time for the summer season.
Currently, unsightly metal fencing surrounds the former Amusement arcade, which was closed several years ago and is in a state of disrepair as it awaits development.
The Town Council hopes to recruit an artist to paint wooden boards which will be installed along the entirety of the fence, with hopes that the mural will cheer up the area and make it more attractive for visitors.
In total, 14 panels need to be painted, with each measuring 2.1 metres in length and 1.8 metres in height.
Any artists who are interested in undertaking the project would have the materials and paint supplied to them.
If you’d like to register your interest, you can ring the Deputy Mayor, Steph Toogood, on 07525662555.

If the council really wants to bright up Ventnor seafront, it will get the amusement arcade restored to its original format and keep it as an amusement arcade.
I’m not sure that would make the owner very happy.
Whoever is the owner of this eye-sore should be made to pay for this,or even better, have it demolished asap.
We’ll probably end up with some of that DREADFUL ‘artwork’ by the Urban Artist ‘Not Dead Yet’!
He’s managed to ruin a number of properties so far!
Yes that’s what should happen, but it’s better than nothing, If it’s anything like their huge wall painting as you drive down into town which is amazing!!
Can the residents please borrow the councillors that are showing concern to hide the eyesore ….. We have had to endure the town being openly destroyed by greedy business folk for years …. Sandown…pay to view piles of rubbish burnt discarded buildings …Come and see the alternative accepted by our councillors…. Hope you get it done good people of Ventnor ….
A bulldozer would be better than a bucket of paint !
Lipstick on a pig. Seems input is too short not now though
Why not pool all cans of unused paint that you have in sheds everywhere, get local school for designs and make it fun!
