The British Speedway is already in full flight this season and gathering a lot of support from fans. This includes within the Isle of Wight, who of course had an affiliation with the sport through their former side, ‘The Wightlink Warriors’. They were re-founded back in 2016 and had been competing in the National league, with their home meetings taking place at the Smallbrook stadium. However, they have since stopped in 2021, which was a shock withdrawel at the time, as they were pulled from the league and the future of the club is now unclear. Despite this disappointing news, fans on the Isle of Wight have still remained interested on the sport, even as last seasons National league was cancelled due to the pandemic.
Moving to those higher leagues and what continues to prove the most exciting action is that of the Premiership, which is also the top tier of UK speedway. The season has only really just started but will see Belle Vue, taking on Ipswich, Sheffield, King’s Lynn, Peterborough and Wolverhampton. The season kickstarted on the opening day of May, following an extended break since back in the latter period of October last year, due to cancellations from COVID-19. Similar to what we have seen for many other sports around the world, but each have continued to return with great success and anticipation for fans and speedway has been no different.
Following the opening few fixtures and it is Belle Vue who top the table from Ipswich. Belle Vue are five time winners of the British league and also won the SGB Premiership KO Cup back in 2017. However, they have not been seeing great success within the last few seasons, so will be looking to turn this around this season and potentially push for Premiership honours. Players amongst the sides will also be hoping to have a successful season and greater their chances of riding for their countries at the upcoming Speedway of Nations, which is another event taking place later this year.
UK fans are now looking ahead to the Speedway of Nations winner, with betting available on the sites listed at SBO.net. This sees Russia topping the market at a general 6/4, with Poland then next in at 5/2. Great Britain are available in the betting at 4/1, so will be hoping to pull off the upset over the other two nations. The Great Britain side had also finished as runners-up back in 2018 and only just missed out on the title from Russia, so will be looking to emulate this kind of performance and land the odds for loyal supporters. Other key contenders including the likes of Australia, Sweden and Denmark. The event was only founded back in 2018 but has been won by Russia on each occasion but this is set to be the biggest speedway event of the year and fans will also be able to tune in, with the event being broadcast on BT Sport.

Each are going to help the sport grow further and for future success.
