For many of us, international travel as a whole remains off the cards other than a specific few locations, but there’s often all of the rigmarole of getting multiple tests, quarantining, and all of the other bits and bobs that will put a dampener on your holiday. The big suggestion is to holiday a little closer to home, sticking to domestic beaches and short trips and the good news for many is that big attractions have become more readily available at your fingertips – so how can you make the most of the summer at home, and what are people taking advantage of the most?

It’s all going virtual – Perhaps the biggest change to be seen over the past eighteen months and a little longer has been the huge shift away from traditional entertainment as virtual alternatives have continued to grow. Classics in gaming still remain as those looking to learn how to win on slot machines no longer have to travel to a brick-and-mortar site but can do so from the tap on their phone, but it isn’t just gaming as others have followed too – one thing to emerge recently has come from bigger music festivals and their own willingness to offer virtual events too. Whilst some are coming back with full attendance once more and may not offer virtual options in the future, you still might be able to take advantage of some in the short term.
Lower prices may be all the encouragement you need – In order to bounce back from a tough year, the good news is that there are plenty of deals on offer particularly for locals looking to stay in their own area, and you may be able to snag yourself a bit of a bargain. Summers at home have been getting warmer, so you no longer need to go overseas to get into the scorching 30’s, and if you’re able to save a little by doing so then it’s certainly worth exploring, and with plenty of reviews showcasing all the things at home that you may not have seen whilst pining for an overseas adventure, there’s plenty of excitement to be found here too.
Last minute changes may dampen things too – As many have found and as is widely reported too, by going away you also risk facing some last-minute changes that could impact your plans coming home if you suddenly discover you have to quarantine for 10 days upon arrival. Staying a little closer ensures that your after-holiday plans don’t change, and all of the requirements that may alter themselves across a few days are unlikely to impact your holiday – you can feel more secure in the knowledge that a holiday closer to home means you can stick to your plans without disruption.
