A chilly -7.1c was recorded overnight as freezing weather gripped the Isle of Wight.
The ridiculously cold reading was captured over in Blackwater with thermometers in Newbridge reading a measly -7c, according to local weather forecaster IW Met Service.
Numerous water sources have frozen overnight with practically the whole of Ryde Canoe Lake covered in sheet ice.
Although the temperature recorded in Blackwater is very cold, it is still a long way warmer than the record low of -17c that was recorded by IW Met Service in Chillerton back in December 2010.
Cold conditions will continue over the next few nights albeit milder than it has recently been, whilst the chances of mist and fog are to increase with possible freezing fog in some low-lying places.
