From one Island to another — the sounds of Ibiza could be coming to the Isle of Wight but with an orchestral twist.
Applying for a licence to the Isle of Wight Council, Orchestral Ibiza is hoping to host an outdoor festival in August for up to 4,999 people at Smallbrook Stadium in Ashey.
The total number of tickets proposed to the event is lower than the 6,000 maximum capacity for the Smallbrook field, in Ashey.
With provisional dates given as the 28th and 29th of August, subject to change depending on the Covid situation, the company is looking to provide an amplified live orchestra playing chilled Ibiza classics with DJs performing as well.
The first day is open for the public, but in documents submitted to the council the company say the Sunday would have various tribute acts and be a ‘big thank you’ event for NHS and key workers, in conjunction with Isle of Wight Radio.
The licence is asking for permission to put on the event from 15:00 to 23:00, with late-night refreshment, the supply of alcohol and dance performance.
An external bar, outside the main arena, would serve draft beer, wine, spirits and soft drink until 22.30.
On its website, Orchestral Ibiza says it would be an evening packed with nostalgia and a full live orchestral performance of the biggest Ibiza anthems of all time.
It says other vendors on the day will have street food, a gin bar and dessert parlour. A map of the event provided to the council show there would also be a kids play area.
The festival could take place without any Covid restrictions, should the government continue its roadmap and lift the final measures on 19th July.
The date of the final lifting of restrictions had been pushed back by 4 weeks with the increase of the Delta Covid variant and to allow more of the adult population to be vaccinated.
The licence is open for consultation and can be viewed on the council’s website (21/00571/LAPNEW). Comments will be accepted until 22 July.

Ban it, or the so called ‘key workers’ in the NHS, will be treating more CV victims as this spreads more CV to the Island.
Just a ‘cheap’ ploy by the promoters to ‘get permission’ using ‘being kind’ to Key workers as the excuse.
Ban it.
We don’t want all that noise and row here. A rain soaked field with the usual druggies and wasted Ryde low end type.
As for doing such for key NHS workers, a mere ploy to gain permission from a dim council.
Most NHS workers have done LESS work this year than ever before as most services were cut to the bone and CV thankfully didn’t become a serious issue here compared.
Yet by having this it will spread the latest more dangerous type.
Ban this before it starts.
I agree and the noise, council don’t give a stuff about noise, try living near a pub who disregard the licence they are issued and have live bands playing today ( Sunday ) outside, no sound levels being monitored, total ignorance from the landlady ( I say landlady, but use the term loosely ) Parish council member doesn’t give a stuff either. Why have a band that play the same song, albeit with a tempo change maybe here and there, there are more than 3 chords, and you can do more the 12 bars to a song too. I have footage and levels recorded so, watch our, your certainly no STAR in my book.
This sounds great, can’t wait, fingers crossed….. whoop whoop….
I’m with ya MC hammer we need a jolly up you know it makes sense.
