No less than 12 Island schools are preparing to truly rock Southampton next week by taking to the stage at the O2 Guildhall.
Rock Challenge and J Rock is now underway for 2018 with more than 3,500 students from across Hampshire, Surrey, Dorset and the Isle of Wight rising to the challenge once again by wowing the judges and supporting family and friends.
Ryde Academy, St George’s School, Ryde School and Christ the King College will all travel across the Solent on Monday (26th February) to take part in Week 2 of Rock Challenge.
This will be followed by performances from Sandown Bay Academy and Medina College on Wednesday and Nine Acres Primary School on Thursday. Priory School and Federation of Nettlestone and Newchurch Primary School will follow suite on Friday.
On Saturday, Medina House School, The Bay CE Primary School and Stenbury Foundation will go up against 7 other schools.
The Rock Challenge is an excellent opportunity for young people to perform live on a professional stage. This experience encourages an adrenalin-based high gained through performing, rather than using tobacco, alcohol or other drugs.
Teams of around 20 to 135 students, will have up to 8 minutes to perform their chosen theme to an audience made up of family, friends, VIPs, sponsors and a panel of industry professionals.
Supervising Event Manager, Sophia Campbell, is looking forward to another brilliant year of Rock Challenge® and J Rock™:
“Every school puts so much effort into their Rock Challenge® performance, the dedication from students and staff alike is fantastic to see! For many, Rock Challenge® is the highlight of the school year; I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings!”
