The Isle of Wight’s rising theatrical talent was celebrated at the IW Youth Theatre Awards 2026, with dozens of young performers recognised for standout productions and performances.
The IW Youth Theatre Awards took place on Sunday 29th March, celebrating the young performers who impressed IW Theatre judges throughout 2025.
Eight different youth and school groups were represented, with awards presented across a wide range of categories. Individual performers were also recognised with Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards, with more accolades handed out than in previous years — reflecting both the growing number of productions and the increasing standard of performances.
Among those collecting honours were established theatre groups such as TheatreTrain and Curtain Call Creative, alongside newer organisations including Raw Theatre Arts, The Niton Playbox and GetOnStage. Schools including Ryde School and The Bay were also recognised, as were students from Isle of Wight College Performing Arts.
Highlights from the evening included Best Musical going to Grease by Curtain Call Creative, while Raw Theatre Arts secured Best Play and Direction for Burying Your Brother in the Pavement. The prestigious Best Overall Show award was presented to The Niton Playbox for Manners and Masquerade.

Judges also noted the increasing crossover between youth and adult theatre, with several young performers appearing in major productions such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Annie with the Island Savoyards.
Thanks were extended to Ryde School for hosting the event at the Jenny Kerry Performing Arts Centre, as well as to Paul Bird for providing official photography. Sponsorship of the individual trophies was provided by 1 to 1 School of Motoring.
A special moment on the night came courtesy of Island-born West End star Millie O’Connell, who sent a video message encouraging the Island’s young performers to pursue their passion and enjoy theatre.
A full list of award winners will be published on the IW Theatre website.
