Volunteer crew members from Yarmouth RNLI have joined a major search and rescue operation off the Swanage coast this evening (Monday).
Yarmouth’s All Weather Lifeboat, which launched at around 18:45, is 1 of 6 lifeboats currently working to locate 2 overdue paddleboarders.
Crews from Poole, Swanage, Mudeford and Yarmouth are all at sea – a mix of inshore and All Weather lifeboats.
Coastguard Rescue Helicopters 175 and 187, from Lee-on-Solent and St Athans, are in the skies between Bournemouth and Swanage, as is the National Police Air Service helicopter from Bournemouth.
UPDATE @ 21:32 – The NPAS helicopter has conducted a sweep of the West Wight, checking several bays for any evidence of the paddleboarders coming ashore on the Island.
The mission continues.
UPDATE TUESDAY – The search was stood down late last night after both paddleboarders were successfully located.
1 of the casualties was found 3.6 miles south of Old Harry Rocks at 19:40. The other was located near Bournemouth Pier shortly before 22:00.
The paddleboarder located almost 4 miles out to sea was taken to hospital suffering from hypothermia.

Clearly no one would be thick enough to go out in wind like this.
I bet they are safe at home or in a pub somewhere.
Clearly 2 people were thick enough… !
Paddle boarding looks idyllic and it is on a lake or very still sea. Even hardcore surfer types would’ve had second thoughts on one yesterday yet alone weak city holiday makers
That’s got to be a rare a RNLI boat coming back with no refuges on it no need now I suppose wightlink bring them from Portsmouth on the 10pm crossing every Monday
I guess those in control won’t be content until the once wonderful British are just a hotchpotch of murky brown and our society is unrecognisable.
Disgusting as those in charge live miles away from the misery it happily inflicts on the masses.
Labour will be even worse, so pointless voting now so just have to sit back and watch the decline.
Well said people might vote you down but you are speaking the truth
Glad to reading someone else writing the truth .
Glad they are found and safe, amazing rescue mission
3.6 miles south of Old Harry Rocks puts them on the beach at Canford Cliffs, not 4 miles out at sea.
Regrettably ther’s no law against being stupid.
3 miles south of Old Harrys puts him south of Swanage, west of the Needles in the Channel, you numpty.
Don’t want to be on a vessel with you in a storm.
And, also regrettably, your stupidity has not broken any laws.
Sometimes, it is better to keep quiet, & let people think you are an idiot,
rather than open your mouth and remove all doubt
(if it helps: on a map, North is Up, South is Down)
