Wightlink is giving its full support to the new contact tracing app, designed to minimise the spread of COVID-19.
The app, being offered first to Isle of Wight residents, will play a central role in how the UK manages the rate of coronavirus transmission going forward.
The ferry company is encouraging their 171 colleagues living on the Isle of Wight to sign up – as well as mainland colleagues travelling across the Solent – and will actively promote the app throughout their ports and social media channels.
Keith Greenfield CEO of Wightlink said:
“I am very proud that the Isle of Wight is leading the country in the fight against COVID-19. Isle of Wight residents have acted responsibly in observing the travel restrictions and in doing so have already made a huge contribution to keeping the Island safe.
“We are standing shoulder to shoulder with Islanders in the battle against COVID-19 and supports the NHS, MP and the Isle of Wight Council in all efforts to beat this disease and help the Island return to normality.”

And how many tourists and second home owners has it supported this weekend in letting them travel over to IoW in their cars???
Very true!
if they are anything like our ghost mp dont expect a reply
Everybody is so keen to jump on the bandwagon that they seem utterly determined to ignore and try to sweep under the carpet the simple fact that the App excludes a significant number of pre Android 8 and iOS11 phones.
All those people can spread the infection freely and unidentified because the App is seriously flawed.
Very true Mariner58, but it gives them a warm fuzzy feeling inside x
And?
CoVid 19 NHS App: Had small hiccup on iPhone 5 download. Erased, restarted phone then downloaded again and it worked.
