Straight off the back of severe gales that hit at the start of the week, a new weather warning for the Isle of Wight has been issued – this time for torrential downpours.
Forecasters at IW Met Service have issued a yellow warning for heavy rain, which will come into force at 21:00 tonight (Wednesday) and continue until 10:00 on Thursday morning.
It’s said that a large band of heavy rain will move across the Island later this evening and then stall, leading to some very large rainfall totals of 20-30mm in some parts. Some parts of the Isle of Wight could see localised torrential downpours leading to even higher rainfall totals of up to 50mm.
There is a chance that the rain band could stall just to the East, leading to much-reduced rainfall totals.

Islanders should be aware of the risk of localised flash flooding due to downpours, followed by elevated river levels during the latter part of the event.
Soil, stones and other run-off debris could affect the roads, especially in more rural parts. Leaves and surface water will lead to exceptionally slippery driving conditions in places too.

And you are still not allowed to use your hose. Slippery path that needs jet washing is still a NO
If it’s a safety issue then I would and argue with water board afterwards – jet-washer hardly uses any water
As most every vilest crime is given a weak pathetic sentence then I would not worry about it
Maybe flooding??….will be flooding, just look at the state of the draining in the roads, full of crap…….why do we pay council tax for services, when only half services provided?…..and whilst I’m on about services how come if we loss our bins we have to pay £25 for a new one, but the bin men just throw them down anywhere you have to spend time searching for them….please just put them back where you found it that’s what we pay for, full service not half a job.
