Visit Isle of Wight is expanding its BID LIVE initiative with the launch of a comprehensive business support programme, offering a series of workshops, webinars and training opportunities designed to help Island tourism businesses grow, compete and thrive.
Building on the recently launched BID LIVE: Open Floor Sessions, the new programme brings together practical support, expert-led learning and partner collaboration into a single, ongoing offer for levy payers and voluntary contributors.
Developed as part of Visit Isle of Wight’s commitment to delivering clear, tangible value, the programme is focused on helping businesses strengthen performance, increase bookings, and maximise opportunities within the Island’s visitor economy.
This isn’t just a series of sessions. It’s a structured programme designed to deliver immediate, real-world benefits, with every session focused on practical application and measurable commercial impact.
From social media marketing to business rates guidance, the programme is built to help businesses market smarter, operate more effectively, and drive revenue.
Speaking about the programme, Dominic Wray, Chief Executive of Visit Isle of Wight, said:
“This is about making sure our businesses have access to the tools, knowledge and support they need to succeed, not just in the long term, but right now.
“Through BID LIVE, we’re creating a more joined-up, ongoing approach to support. These sessions are practical, accessible, and designed to make a real difference to how businesses operate and grow.”
The programme includes a mix of in-person workshops and online webinars, covering a wide range of topics relevant to Island businesses.

Designed specifically for the island’s vibrant hospitality and service sectors, this webinar will focus on “easy wins”, practical, low-cost improvements that can transform how visitors feel, from their very first impression to their lasting memories.
Dates for the upcoming sessions include:

- Hovertravel Ferry Trade Account Webinar – 6th May
- Business Rates Webinar – 7th May
- Customer Experience Webinar – 13th May
A series of Social Media Workshops will also take place across the Island between May and July.
The sessions will be delivered in partnership with industry experts and key organisations, ensuring businesses benefit from relevant, up-to-date insights and practical advice. Places for workshops are limited, with strong demand expected so businesses are advised to book their places in advance.

Easy Jet or Ryan Air should buy out the ferry companies
Fares could and would be so much cheaper.
Why does it cost more to cross a few miles of water than
it does to fly a few thousand miles
YOU HAVE YOUR ANSWER WHY FAMILIES GO ELSEWHERE
I can remember the days when the island had so many
more attractions, piers at Shanklin and Ventnor.
Boating Lakes at Ventnor and Yaverland also the boating
lake at Ryde was fully operational with motor boats etc.
There were Dotto trains and you could hire side by side tandem
bikes in Sandown.
There was a theatre on the pier at Sandown pulling in famous
names.
There was also a putting green on the green along the
cliff path at Lake.
I could go on and on.
WHAT IS THERE NOWDAYS!!
Tourism is FINISHED on the island, it attracts weekend stays
and midweek stays.
REAL HOLIDAYS DON’T HAPPEN ANYMORE ON THE ISLAND
