Community groups, organisations and businesses in Ryde still have time to apply for a share of £200,000 in grant funding, with applications closing at midnight on 17th August.
Ryde Neighbourhood Board is offering grants of up to £20,000 to support projects aimed at improving life in the town.
The money forms part of the Government’s Pride in Place programme, through which £19.5 million is set to be spent on improving Ryde over 10 years.
The board initially allocated £100,000 to its Community Grants Programme but has since doubled the amount available to £200,000 following a high level of interest.
The 2026 programme is open to organisations proposing projects which meet at least 1 of a number of priorities identified for Ryde.
These include improving public safety, health and wellbeing, increasing access to learning, strengthening volunteering opportunities and improving sporting, recreational and cultural opportunities.
Projects which enhance Ryde’s natural and built environment or support local businesses and employment are also eligible.
Rachael Randall, acting chair of Ryde Neighbourhood Board and chair of its finance committee, has said:
“The amount of interest in this grant opportunity has been great to see – some really inspiring proposals have been received and we would encourage anyone who is considering making an application to do so now.”
Applications will be assessed before the first successful applicants are announced following ratification by Ryde Neighbourhood Board at its meeting on 25th September.
The Community Grants Programme is one of the ways Pride in Place funding is being used to support initiatives in Ryde, with other funding also available for larger projects.
