32-year-old Islander Christopher Morey is aiming to raise more than £3,000 for a children’s charity by cycling home to Ventnor – from Athens in Greece.
Christopher works on luxury yachts in the Mediterranean but he is swapping his sea legs for several weeks astride a push bike to travel over 2,000 miles from Greece to the Isle of Wight, all in aid of the Andrea Jane Memorial Fund.
The fund was set up to continue the work of Christopher’s colleague’s late wife following her passing in January. Andrea was heavily involved in the Scout movement from an early age and would often go above and beyond to help young people in need. The fund’s main objective is to continue this work by providing financial support for 11-21-year-olds who demonstrate that they want to help themselves.
Chris has no support during this ride and has to find water and food each day, along with setting up his tent at the end of each ride.
Having started the mammoth challenge on 14th May, Chris has already reached Liechtenstein and over the next 2 weeks will travel to Zurich, through to Paris and then the final stage from Paris to Ventnor.
