A trespasser on the railway has forced the suspension of all Island Line services between Ryde and Shanklin this evening (Friday).
An individual located on the lines means trains are unable to operate.
1 train has come to a halt at Ryde Esplanade and another at Brading, suggesting the trespasser is located between the 2 stations.
There are no signs of any Police activity at either station, or at any bridges along the line.
The incident began at around 19:25.
South Western Railway currently anticipate that disruption will continue until 22:00.
UPDATE @ 20:43 – Trains are now operating as normal.

…….
Really – it will take about five minutes for two or three police to simply walk onto the line, grab the p rick and cuff it. – trains restart immediately – it isn’t difficult.
And what do you know about rules regarding trespasses in the line Probably nothing
Trespassers are by the very definition not wanted there as they are in the way and a nuisance – it is hand wringing apologists do gooders like you that are happy to disrupt everyone else to accommodate some dead beat loser that is in the way. How about you stop being so weak and simply move these idiots out of the way, so that we can get on with our days, without their interference.
Why would the police attend?
Trespass on a railway line is a criminal offence, unlike trespass elsewhere.
So is graffiti, but the police didn’t turn up for that, despite having lots of photos from this very site
Exactly, they don’t turn up for virtually every other crime on the island as it’s too much work so why would this be any different
Just maybe, as we haven’t got any facts/reason for the “trespass” It could be a person in mental turmoil, and wanting to end their life.Which by reading some comments here, you should be ashamed.
Agreed, the other often overlooked fact is what the poor driver sees, he has, in the case of most if not all trains, no ability to stop in time.
They have to live with that. A horrendous life time burden.
Could be true, however, all the more reason for the police to show up…
When a railway can be prosecuted because a teen ignored all warning signs and lights, and gets run over by a train because their had their music on (which the crossing had clear sign saying ‘take of your headphones’).
These delays are a reasonable response from the rail company.
no they are not – the passengers rights are more important that some idiot on the line – drag them out of the way and deal with them off the tracks.
