Emergency services are in attendance at a road traffic collision in Lake this lunchtime (Monday), which is causing significant delays in the area.
The incident has occurred near to Tesco Express on The Fairway – the diversion route for the one-way closure of Lake Hill.
A Citroen Berlingo appears to have collided into the rear of a Peugeot.
Island Echo readers say that Police and paramedics are on scene, with vehicles having to turn around and divert.
UPDATE – The incident has now been cleared and The Fairway/Perowne Way has re-opened.
Lake Hill remains closed for motorists travelling from Lake to Sandown due to WightFibre works.
That’s Sandown cut off from the south then until it all gets cleared up.
If only someone could have foreseen the chaos it would caused when this inevitably happened…
Oh wait – a lot of people did but no-one took any notice of them.
Hopefully no emergency vehicles will need to get through before the road reopens.
Just another accident waiting to happen. The way vehicles come around that bend without slowing and the entrance/exit to Tesco express on the junction, It is a pertentual death trap for pedastrians. F’n SLOW DOWN !
Brilliant a diversion on the diversion, never have I seen so many roads on this island closed or one way because of a utility company
Not really a utility company, Wightfibre are a cartel, answerable to no one!
Except to the money daddy’s,
@ central government.
Brown envelopes flying about like confetti. It really does stink.
More idiots will be along soon…
Yes give me the thumb down, but you know I’m right, none of you understand dangerous situations, never have and never will….
No, it’s not what you say, because you are right OBVIOUSLY.
But you keep saying the same thing,
AND it is f’n boring and lazy.
Nobody disergee’s with you.
But try saying something original, instead of the same statement, time after time. x
Don’t others think that there is far, far more to this Gov backed Wight Fibre putting a cable to every home on the Island, no matter how remote, IF they are not going to be forced to use it?
I think we will be used as a test bed for driverless vehicles or have the digital TV transmitters taken away, forcing us to rely on wightfiber cable in the future.
NO firm would spend millions for something that only a few may take up.
I believe once they’ve installed the whole island and destroyed everywhere they’ve been, They will be put up for sale for a massive profit.
if that’s the case they need to share it out to Islanders for the disruption and mess they’ve caused.
The junction box they fitted last week around the corner is literally a 3rd of the way across the pavement, you could walk behind it and the wall!!
Not sure about the driverless car scenario – although there might be a few less accidents if that actually happened!
What is odd though is that Wight Fibre has been losing over £6 million a year and has up to £50 million of funding (basically a loan or overdraft) from NatWest. How on earth is that ever going to be recouped from people signing up to a cable service in a very limited market such as the Island? I could understand it being rolled out in a city (and I bet it would be done with a lot less disruption) but not on a semi rural island? Seems very odd.
This has put me off ever considering wightfibre. Absolutely ridiculous what is going in in Ventnor right now. Half the roads are a mess because of these idiots.
