Cross-Solent travel operator Hovertravel has had to cancel sailings again today (Monday), but not because of the weather.
Earlier today the service was suspended due to adverse weather conditions but this afternoon’s new cancellation is down to a technical issue.
It hasn’t been confirmed what the exact issue is.
Purchased tickets will be accepted on Wightlink’s Fast Cat service from Ryde – Portsmouth.
Hovertravel apologises for the disruption and has said an update will be given at 17:00.
UPDATE @ 17:01 – Services are to remain cancelled until at least 17:30.
UPDATE @ 18:05 – Services are to resume at 18:15 from Ryde.
UPDATE @ 19:42 – Services have, once again, been suspended. This is due to adverse weather conditions.
Hovertravel say services won’t resume today with the next update at 05:45 tomorrow morning (Tuesday).

Turning into Floating Bridge 2, shambles!
I’m confused.com. You state that it’s not because of weather issues, yet say the 1st stoppage was due to adverse weather. November is normally when they do a deep technical service and overhaul, so possibly only 1 craft available. That would be good to know if you talk to them
Hovertravel keep trying … but your unreliability is not close to that shambles Wightlink, but keep this poor service up and you can achieve Ferry operator/service provider of the year and take it from Wightlink..
So just the usual woeful (non) service that we get from every form of public transport provider on the island. Nothing will ever improve until heavy financial penalties are imposed for late or cancelled services, and it seems that will never happen.
