OVER 10,000 walkers took part in Walk the Wight yesterday, on what was a gloriously sunny day.
Many walkers started from Bembridge Airport at 06:30 yesterday morning, taking in the stunning views of Yaverland and Brading before heading to the halfway point at Carisbrooke Castle. The adventurous continued a further 14 miles across the garden isle to Alum Bay, where they were awarded their hard-earned medals by Lord Grade, of Yarmouth.
Walkers aged 4 to 84 took part in the annual event, with some 2,000 walking the Flat Walk between Sandown and Shide including many Island schools.
