Isle of Wight rock band Better Late have spent 2 weeks at the top of Portsmouth’s Express FM chart with their latest single, The Dial.
The 4-piece initially entered the chart at number 3 before climbing to the top spot, where the track has now remained for 2 weeks.
The Dial takes its inspiration from the band’s changing relationship with discovering music on the radio over the past 50 years.
As teenagers, the band members would sit in their rooms turning the dial on an old radio in search of new and inspiring music – or simply hoping to hear an old favourite.
Half a century later, that enthusiasm for searching out music remains, although the technology has changed, with listening now taking place through DAB radios in the car or kitchen.
It is that contrast between then and now which provided the inspiration for the band’s latest release.
Better Late are a 4-piece rock band from the Isle of Wight, blending influences from classic rock, Americana, grunge, Southern rock and modern guitar music.
The group write melodic original songs inspired by real life, people and experiences, combining guitar work with strong hooks and harmonies.
Originally brought together through a shared love of songwriting, the band have since developed a catalogue of original material influenced by the artists they grew up listening to.
The Dial is taken from Better Late’s forthcoming 2nd EP, which the band are currently working on.
