The driver of a classic Triumph Spitfire has had a lucky escape after the 53-year-old car left the road and overturned into a ditch near Calbourne this morning (Thursday).
Emergency services responded to Middle Road, close to Swainston Manor, at around 10:15 following reports of a road traffic collision.
The red Triumph Spitfire came to rest upside down in a roadside ditch.
Despite the dramatic nature of the crash, the driver is understood to have escaped from the incident without serious injury.
Route 7 buses were diverted away from the area for a time as emergency services dealt with the collision. Services have since returned to their normal route.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are not known at this stage.

Surely they were not speeding on this speed camera free Isle.

Wow what a lucky escape for the driver, he must have been really short, perhaps even a halfling of some kind, for his head to have not hit the ground!
Looks like the Roof season has come early this year.
