Internet users across parts of the Isle of Wight are experiencing broadband problems today (Thursday), with customers of multiple providers reporting that they have been left without a connection.
Island Echo has received numerous reports from Islanders experiencing problems getting online, with the majority so far coming from Newport and Cowes. Customers in parts of East Cowes have also reported being affected.
Those reporting problems use a range of broadband providers operating over the Openreach network, including BT, Sky, TalkTalk, EE, Vodafone, Plusnet and NOW Broadband.
Some Islanders have said they have been experiencing wifi issues since last night (Wednesday).
Customers with providers including EE and TalkTalk have been advised that the issue could take up to 2 days to resolve, although it is not known whether that timeframe applies to the wider problem.
There is currently no confirmed figure for the number of homes or businesses affected.
Island Echo has contacted Openreach for comment, but at the time of publication, no response has been received.
UPDATE @ 13:05 – Such is the extent of the issue, businesses in Newport such as Poundland, Card Factory and Correo Lounge are currently operating cash-only payment.
It is though that a similar situation is ongoing elsewhere in Newport and in Cowes.

Maybe Openreach are shirking from home
hence no response.
