The Vectis Party have announced Stephen Parkes as their candidate for the Brighstone, Calbourne and Shalfleet ward, previously held by Steve Hastings.
Hastings vacated his seat earlier this month, with the former Conservative leader at the Isle of Wight Council saying he was now disillusioned with politics.
A by-election is to be held soon to determine the next councillor for the ward.
Stephen brings much experience as a candidate and councillor and has pledged to tackle issues in the Ward such as public transport, local services and over-development.
