The picturesque village of St Helens will once again open its gates for the biennial ‘St Helens Secret Gardens’ event on Sunday (1st June), offering a rare chance to explore seven private gardens, including one making its debut this year.
The event, much-anticipated by locals and visitors alike, invites hundreds to peek behind garden walls and hedges to discover the hidden beauty and horticultural creativity within. Each garden offers something unique, with carefully curated spaces reflecting the passion of their owners.
To complement the garden visits, tea and cake will be served at 2 venues positioned at opposite ends of the village, while a variety of plants will be available for purchase. Parking will be provided on the East Green to ensure easy access to all garden locations.
Admission is by programme only, which acts as both a ticket and a detailed guide. It includes photographs, information about each garden, and a map. Programmes can be bought in advance at St Helens Post Office, or on the day from the East Green, Boundary Oaks on Carpenters Road, and Beach House on Duver Road.
Entry costs £5 per adult, with free admission for children under 12. All payments must be made in cash.
Proceeds from the day will support the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, a vital emergency service that operates entirely through public donations. The charity requires over £17,500 every day to remain operational.
The event is a celebration of community, creativity and care – both for the gardens and for a life-saving cause.
