Passion, peril and panache will take centre stage when Shoreline Productions presents The Scarlet Pimpernel at Shanklin Theatre later this month.
The romantic, action-packed musical will run from Thursday 28th May to Sunday 31st May, bringing the story of the original masked hero to life on the Island stage.
Based on the novel by Baroness Orczy, The Scarlet Pimpernel is set at the height of the French Revolution, as aristocrats face the deadly threat of Madame Guillotine.
At the heart of the story is English nobleman Sir Percy Blakeney, who has won the love of French actress and singer Marguerite St Just — but Citizen Chauvelin is determined to use her past for his own ends.
With secrets, disguises, daring rescues and forbidden love at its core, the production moves between revolutionary France and elegant Georgian England.
The musical features a sweeping score by Frank Wildhorn, best known for Jekyll and Hyde, with numbers including The Creation of Man, When I Look At You and Falcon in the Dive.

Shoreline Productions says audiences can expect thrilling sword combat, with the cast having undergone specialist training under stage fighting expert Ed Nash.
The show will star Bertie Everson as Sir Percy, Bryony Bishop as Marguerite and Stuart Adams as Chauvelin.
Performances take place at Shanklin Theatre on Thursday 28th May at 19:30, Friday 29th May at 19:30, Saturday 30th May at 14:30 and 19:30, and Sunday 31st May at 14:30.
Tickets cost £23, including booking fee, and can be booked via the Shanklin Theatre website.
