A strong smell of smoke prompted firefighters to spend around an hour searching on Ventnor Downs this morning (Monday), but no fire was found.
Shanklin firefighters were called to Down Lane in Upper Ventnor at around 09:30 this morning.
Island Echo understands that reports had been made of a strong smell of smoke in the area.
Using a 4×4 vehicle – as well as investigating on foot – firefighters scoured the landscape in search for any signs of fire, but no fire was located.
After around 60-minutes on scene crews headed back to Shanklin at around 10:30.
