Special fundraising sessions will see £1 donated per attendee to support those living with Parkinson’s during Awareness Month.
A local Qigong instructor is inviting Islanders to take part in a series of special fundraising classes in support of Parkinson’s Awareness Month later this April.
Julie Thomas, a Level 2 Qigong teacher, will be hosting 3 sessions during the week commencing 13th April, with £1 from every attendee donated to support Parkinson’s awareness.
Qigong – a practice similar to Tai Chi – involves gentle, flowing movements that are accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
Studies have shown that regular practice of Tai Chi and Qigong can help people living with Parkinson’s to improve walking, posture and balance, while also reducing the risk of falls. The exercises are also known to support coordination, confidence and overall wellbeing.
Julie is encouraging both newcomers and experienced participants to get involved, with all sessions open to the public.
Those attending will not only benefit from the physical and mental health aspects of Qigong, but will also be contributing to raising awareness and support for those affected by Parkinson’s.
Islanders are being encouraged to come along, take part and bring friends to support the initiative.
