Royal Mail workers on the Isle of Wight are striking once again today (Thursday) in the continuing row over pay, bringing about disruption to postal services.
Those who are part of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) have walked out as part of a 24-hour strike with picket lines established outside sorting offices in Ryde, Sandown and Newport – despite the pouring rain.
Further strikes are planned for 20th October, 25th October and 28th November. These surround key dates such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. There will also be some element of disruption when delivery workers walk out on 4th, 10th, 16th and 25th November and 2nd December. Those involved in collections and processing will walk out on 3rd, 9th, 15th and 24th November, as well as 1st December.
Royal Mail will continue to deliver as many Special Delivery and Tracked24 parcels as possible, with priority given to COVID test kits and medical prescriptions.
Letters are not being delivered on strike days, save for those marked Special Delivery.

To be fair, would be difficult to notice any disruption as its not very good generally
Getting fed up with this now , paid £6-99 for a parcel delivery on Saturday, still hasn’t arrived !!!!!
Definitely not using Royal mail for parcels again !!¡!!!
Boohoo poor you
I wonder if you would like it if it was an important package that you were waiting for? And “Boohoo poor you?” what are you? 10?
I stopped using Royal Mail , which now they are privertised shouldn’t be using that title.
There are many and more efficient services available at a cheaper price.
Still the best for letters though.
The same price for two miles down the road or the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
But parcels, forget it use an alternative.
People are fast losing patience now! A lot of people are struggling with the cost of living but we can’t all go on strike!
Join a union then.
The place I work isn’t big enough to have a union! If they don’t like the conditions of work then find another job!
If they can afford to lose so much pay by striking,I am of course assuming they don’t receive payment whilst on strike.
Then maybe they are paid to much in the first place.
One more thing post vans can park on double yellow lines in the course of making deliveries, not going home for dinner.
I’m talking about the young lady who parks on yellow lines in Mellvile street in Sandown and pops up the road to her house for a bite to eat.
We do not get paid for going on strike so we are losing money, unlike many of the people who make stupid uninformed comments we are doing this for the future not for the now , as for parking on double yellow lines that’s not relevant to this issue , don’t forget us on strike are also waiting for important letters and packets, we don’t want to be losing money but when you do some research and find out the full facts people will realise why, the majority of people I speak to on delivery are backing us
If your dispute is about pensions or health and safety concerns then you have my full support.
But you do abuse the concession for parking on yellow lines,be honest.
Again parking isn’t the issue here and not relevant ,
It is because you do abuse it.
I see it everyday a van parks at the bottom of the road I live on,on double yellow lines and on the pavement restricting pedestrian access.
Then postie’s leave the van and deliver in the area.
And you could park five yards up the road and not be on yellow lines.
But you do it because you can.
We do it because we are allowed, most posties are only parked for a few minutes, any issues you know where the office is feel free to complain which I’m sure you do anyway, as normal you are only bothered by yourself
Well said. I and the vast majority of people I know fully support you.
I will not be using Royal Mail ever again to deliver my parcels.Your to unreliable!
Well done brothers & sisters, You have my full support…
Spoken like a true commie.
This is all so old now. If Royal Mail are so great, why does it take 12 days for a letter from St Mary’s hospital to reach East Cowes? Hope they got nice and wet.
Oh no not other public sector services on strike again
Being on strike is meant to be serious, But look at them all in the pic they all got big grins on there face Its a BIG joke…..
