2 people have been arrested as part of an ongoing operation to proactively target the supply of drugs across the Island.
Earlier on tonight, local police officers utilised a number of tactics to successfully stop a vehicle and detain its occupants who they believed to be involved in the supply of illegal drugs.
Officers stopped the suspect vehicle on Fishbourne Lane, near to the Wightlink Ferry Terminal. At least 5 police vehicles were in attendance.
Having searched 2 males at the side of the road – a 21-year-old and a 22-year-old – officers located and seized a number of Class B drugs.
The pair, both from the Isle of Wight, were arrested and subsequently taken to custody at Newport Police Station on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs.
C Shift will now spend the early hours of Wednesday morning compiling evidence before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) take over the investigation.
A spokesperson for Isle of Wight Police said:
“Please continue to tell us about what you are seeing in your community so we can positively target drug supply across the Isle of Wight”

Excellent, well done ! Non essential travel too !! Keep up the good work !!
Scum hope they get banged up for long time drugs waste life’s
Share your sentiments – lets hope the Judges do their bit!!
Waste of time
come on bill, if the police didn’t make an effort then it would be open season here. Every street corner would have dealing taking place, drugs would be openly injected and consumed in the parks, on the beach just like alcohol is now.
i’m guessing you have never seen what heroin addiction does to a persons ability to control theirselves when on withdrawal.
@Freeloaders you make a good point but in this current climate there is more severe drug addiction to legally prescribed medication such as benzodiazepines. These drugs are prescribed daily by doctors even though withdrawal from these drugs can be severe after just weeks of taking and can lead to akathesia and other life changing neurological effects.
When you look into the studies on the psychology of addiction of most illecit drugs you find that the cause of the addiction is not the drug; its the temporary escape of their sad reality that they are chasing.
Its easy to put these drug users all into one scummy category but it’s harder to understand how, why and what got them to where they are. The worst of us in society are a reflection of the whole society.
There’s a difference between class A and B my friend
the incident and the type are not the point – it is the visual presence of officers stopping this activity happening – if they do not, then a free for all ensues.
if it is not stopped, then this place will end up like some other countries, where addicts harass passers by for cash and then run to a dealer on a street corner for a hit, followed by shooting up in an alley way?
that is where this ends up, if it is not effectively policed – if areas are not policed like this, then the hard working and decent people move out, leaving the place to descend into a mess, as more and more deadbeats move in.
The the police are doing a good job but then the judges give them a slap on wrist, a small fine and a waste of time rehabilitation order. These people have been like this all their lives and that won’t change. The 46 yr old last week in court from Seaview stole his mum car crashed it, no licence or insurance and police thought he’d taken an overdose he was that bad he got a driving ban AGAIN ! How can he be banned when he was already banned. He’s a danger on our roads and been reported several times it’s a long prison sentence they need if only to give us all a little respite from them!
Just legalise cannabis and start paying off the vast amount of debt the uk owes with all the tax profit from it and not little joe from down the road !!!!
Just because there’s supply doesn’t mean people will do drugs, if they put recourses into rehabilitation rather then arresting dealers and users then then drug usage would decrease, decades of the war on drugs has amounted to literally nothing except wasting billions in taxpayers money
Choices & Consequences ! When they are crying for their Detox medication
give it a few years and you will be able to buy it over a counter
I don’t think so Andy. Not in England. This isn’t Holland……..
More filth off the streets… . Interpret that as you like. Excellent, well done IOW police. These drug dealers think they are untouchable. Ha Ha…….NOT.
