Christ the King College is celebrating the outstanding successes of their A Level students for the third year running, building on the previous 2 years and demonstrating that the College is going from strength to strength.
The phenomenal growth of the Sixth Form since opening in 2012 has resulted in this year’s cohort being significantly larger than previous years and yet overall achievement has still continued to improve.
The College report that both the average point score and average grades achieved by the students, 2 important measures of success, have seen a significant increase from last year. The achievements of the young people mean that Christ the King College students are once again moving on to top universities across the United Kingdom.
Pat Goodhead, headteacher said:
“A Level Results Day is about securing the next steps for our young people’s futures and it is always a privilege to see them with the qualifications that enable them to move on to the institution of their choice with confidence and excitement.
“I am extremely proud of all of our students and the staff who have supported them so well in reaching this position. We set ambitious and challenging targets for our students, work with them to develop their confidence and provide an ethos in which they can study and thrive.
“Whilst I am always hesitant about singling out individuals, as there have been so many success stories this year, well – deserved tributes should certainly be paid to the very high number of students securing places at top universities, just a selection of whom are mentioned below.”
• Freya Baxman (A*AB – Medicine at Southampton)
• Jasmin Brooks (A*AA – Veterinary Science)
• Victoria Cave (ABB – Archaeology and Anthropology at Exeter)

However, Mrs Goodhead was keen to stress that it is as important to celebrate all students’ achievements, adding:
“We are extremely proud of each and every individual student, whatever their result and wherever their next steps take them, especially those who have faced personal challenges during their studies and have shown amazing resilience and determination. I know that the Island community, like the College, will be very proud of these young people and all the others who have also achieved so well.”
Commenting on this year’s A Level results at the College, Mr David Lisseter, Chair of Governors at Christ the King College, stated:
“ I would like to add my congratulations to all the students and staff and wish the students every success in whatever they choose to do. I hope that they take the ethos of life at Christ the King College into the wider world.”
