Line dancers from across the Isle of Wight have raised more than £1,200 for Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat at a charity fundraiser.
Line Dance IOW’s annual Go Orange event saw dancers don bright orange and come together for an afternoon of community spirit, all in aid of the independent lifesaving service.
The fundraiser culminated in the presentation of a cheque for £1,215 to lifeboat volunteers.
Coxswain Mark Birch said:
“Running an independent lifeboat takes constant fundraising, and donations like this genuinely keep us operational.
“Every launch, every piece of equipment, every hour of training is paid for by the community we serve.
“We can’t thank the dancers enough — their support helps us stay ready to respond whenever someone in The Bay needs us.”
Katrina Kelly, instructor of Line Dance IOW, added:
“We’re incredibly proud to have supported the lifeboat for so many years.
“It’s a vital service for The Bay community, and our dancers never hesitate to step up — quite literally — when it matters.”
Richard Burns, Fundraising Manager, said:
“This donation will help our crew continue their essential work keeping local waters safe.”
The latest fundraiser is another welcome boost for Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat, which relies on public support to remain operational.
