Staff at Furzehill Childcare Centre in Shanklin are celebrating after they received a ‘good’ overall rating following an Ofsted inspection last month. The establishment of Albert Road, Shanklin – located on the site of St Blasius CE Primary School – was rated good in all areas including quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management. A total of 99 children are on the roll at Furzehill with a total of 49 places on offer. The age range of children at the time of inspection – during the Easter Holidays – was between 0 and 9. In the report – which was compiled following an inspection on 3rd April – it is stated that children are greeted warmly by staff and leave their parents and carers with ease and staff spend time getting to know every child to ensure the building of strong relationships. The curriculum is challenging and ambitious for the children who enjoy each other’s company and the special educational needs coordinator (SENco) ensures that strategies are in place to close gaps in child development quickly and efficiently. Praise was heaped on the establishments focus on their community and especially the trips that staff and children make to a local care home as well as the relationship that the centre has with parents who all spoke ‘highly’ of the setting. A spokesperson from Furzehill Childcare Centre has said:
“We are delighted to share that we received a ‘Good’ rating overall. As this was the setting’s first inspection under LC Childcare Ltd since opening in September 2021, the inspection was robust and the inspector left no stone unturned. This was also the first Ofsted experience for many of our team and every single one of them performed exceptionally well and demonstrated their passion and commitment to the setting. They were and are an absolute inspiration and I am incredibly proud of them all.”
