A bizarre late night road traffic collision in a car park in Sandown has led to a call out for firefighters and Police tonight (Tuesday).
It’s at Yaverland car park where a white Ford Fiesta has seemingly driven over a small embankment and into a field, prompting an emergency call out.
An individual in the front passenger seat of the vehicle is currently being assessed by fire crews from Sandown and Ryde as a result of the minor off-road excursion into an area used for overflow parking.
The emergency services on scene – including 2 fire engines, a fire officer and 2 police vehicles – are largely not required.
UPDATE @ 22:54 – The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service now has an ambulance crew and operational commander in attendance.
A female is being assisted from the car and onto a stretcher, for further assessment.
UPDATE @ 23:05 – Resources are now being stood down from the incident.
The vehicle, which appears undamaged, remains parked in the field.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – It has been confirmed that a 19-year-old woman suffered a minor head injury in last night’s incident.
She was taken to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance, not on blue lights, for treatment.

Going for spin in field to do more damage ripping the grass up straight ban needed
That car park is a boy and girl racers paradise
It would be much safer if fencing was erected around the green.
Prevention is better than cure.
The amount of times I have seen vehicles using this
car park as a race track, it is doughnut city at times.
The tyre marks left on the ground is the proof in the pudding.
“The emergency services on scene – including 2 fire engines, a fire officer and 2 police vehicles – are largely not required”
Really?
Then why are they there?
When a 999 caller says there is an injured person in the car, the fire brigade will attend in case the car has to be cut open to safely release them. That’s their job.
At least we know why our council tax keeps going up.
Think of all those hourly rates for 1 incident.
At least they wont be having a pop at us older drivers this time
The older drivers are much safer than the Nippers!
Got to love a blue light response..keeps it dramatic..
