Cabana, a brand new Peri-Peri family restaurant was formally opened in Newport last week by the Island’s MP, Andrew Turner, who was accompanied by the Mayor of Sandown Mr Raj Patel.
The grand opening was attended by around 130 people over 2 days, with each visitor trying the different flavours of Peri-Peri chicken dishes on offer.
This is the first Peri-Peri chicken restaurant in Newport and aims to fill the gap in the local market.
Irving Pedreschi, originally from Peru, is the restaurant’s head chef.
The Cabana was the idea of Dr Babu and his wife Anupama Singh. Dr Babu is a renowned breast surgeon on the Island, but has always been set on opening a restaurant of excellence. He is joined by Mr Jewel Rahman, a well established businessman in the catering industry for the last 30 years, as co-director of Cabana.
Cabana is located in Upper St James Street, Newport.
