Crews from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are currently tackling a fire at a flat at Oak Vale in Oakfield, Ryde this afternoon (Tuesday).
1 appliance from Ryde was mobilised to the scene at around 15:50 with a single crew from Sandown joining them there shortly after at around 16:00.
Crews entered the building with breathing apparatus, returning from the building shortly after.
It is unknown how the fire started.
Both appliances remain on scene.
UPDATE @ 17:20 – It has been confirmed that the fire began in the bathroom and was extinguished using a hose reel jet.
Positive pressure ventilation has been used to rid lingering smoke.
2 people have been given first aid and are now being tended to by paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
