Reports of a man overboard from a commercial vessel located to the South of the Isle of Wight prompted the launch of Bembridge RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat earlier this afternoon (Monday).
The ‘Alfred Albert Williams’ launched at 13:06 at the request of Solent Coastguard to assist with the recovery of a person in the water.
It had been reported to HM Coastguard that a person had gone overboard from a 14-metre commercial motor vessel.
Within about 30 seconds of launching, the lifeboat was stood down as it had been confirmed that the man overboard had successfully been recovered and the assistance of the RNLI was no longer required.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.
